• Pool Rules & Regulations

  OLIVER POOL RULES & REGULATIONS 
  All the rules and regulations are clearly posted at the pool in various locations. For everyone’s comfort and safety, please obey all the rules at all times. Rules Worth Repeating: 

  • Children seven (7) years and under and any child unable to competently swim one width of the pool MUST be within arm’s reach of a responsible guardian 16 years or older AT ALL TIMES. 
     
  • Shower before entering the pool.
     
  • Shower-only access available during leisure swim and lane swim times when physical distance can be maintained. 
     
  • Disposable diapers are not allowed in the pool. Waterproof diapers are available for purchase at the pool office.
     
  • Patrons with infectious or contagious conditions such as   pink-eye, chicken pox, etc. or open sores will not be allowed into the pool.
     
  • Please listen to the direction of our lifeguards at all times for your own safety and for the safety of others. Those who do not will be asked to leave the pool area.
• Lightning Policy

  LIGHTNING POLICY 

  Because of the unpredictable nature of lightning and its often disastrous consequences, the Oliver Community Pool will always adhere to the following safety guidelines as set out by the NATIONAL LIGHTNING SAFETY INSTITUTE. 

  1.  When thunder is heard 30 seconds or less after a flash of lightning is observed, the pool will be cleared. Staff strongly recommends that all patrons remain inside the pool building until the storm subsides. 

  2.  Pool activities shall remain suspended until 30 minutes after the last thunder is heard. There will be no exceptions. It should be noted that storms are erratic and even though it may appear “safe” to resume activity, it is not. 

  3.  Swim lessons are also subject to cancellation due to lightning. There will be no reimbursement or rescheduling of the classes that are canceled due to weather.

• Private Swim Lessons

  These 30-min classes are designed for adult learners or children with learning/physical disabilities who require one-on-one instruction. Semi-private requests for additional swimmers from the same household with compatible swimming abilities will be reviewed by Pool staff. Private lessons can cover skills in the Preschool levels up to Swimmer 6. Lessons will be offered in blocks of 5 sessions.

Pool Programs

• Aquafit

  Mon/Wed/Fri - May 25 - Aug 28 (No class June 22-26, or July 1) 6:15-7:00PM. $10.00/class. 

  Splash your way to toned muscles, increased calorie burn and fitness with this fun, safe aerobics class in water! Using the resistance of water combined with movement, Aquafit provides a full body workout while the weightless environment makes it easy on your joints. Evening classes at the Oliver pool will both provide options to accomodate every fitness level. Participants should be comfortable in water. 

• Bronze Star

  2026 Dates and Times are TBA. 

  Bronze Star develops swimming proficiency, lifesaving skills, and personal fitness, candidates refine their stroke mechanics, acquire self-rescue skills and apply fitness principles in training workouts. Bronze Star is excellent preparation for success in Bronze Medallion and provides a fun introduction to lifesaving sprot. No pre-requisite however Swim Patrol is recommended. 

• Bronze Medallion

  2026 course dates/times TBD

  Bronze Medallion teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education: judgement, knowledge, skill, and fitness. Bronze Medallion challenges the candidate mentally and physically. 

• Bronze Cross

  The Lifesaving Society's Bronze Cross begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as assistant lifeguards. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross emphasizes the importance of teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for advanced training in the Society's National Lifeguard and Leadership Certification Program. 

  Participants who successfully complete Bronze Cross can be eligible for academic credit: Lifesaving Society (BC & Yukon) - Province of British Columbia

  Prerequisites: Must have completed Bronze Medallion.
